Lest we forget

Kia ora!

To commemorate ANZAC day on 25th April, we baked some ANZAC cookies with Novak Class. Did you know that women baked biscuits out of oats, butter, flour and sugar and sent them al the way across the world to the soldier who were fighting in the war? Back then it would have taken months for the biscuits to arrive and they were still edible!

When our ANZAC biscuits were ready to eat, we made some trenches out of our desks. We sat in really tight, cramped conditions and ate our cookies while we listened to sounds that you might hear if you were sitting in the trenches. It was a great to experience wha it might have been like to be at war. It really helped us understand how much our soldiers sacrificed for us.
